Community Service Office

Mission:

NYU…a tradition of Service. The commitment to community service is one of the cornerstones of New York University. Over 5,000 students, staff and faculty are involved in University-sponsored community service each year. NYU volunteers serve the NYU community in a variety of ways: tutoring, visits to senior citizen, painting public schools, conducting clothing and food drives, are just a few of the hundred of programs available through the Office of Community Service.

Method:

The C-Team was formed in January of 1989 by President Emeritus L. Jay Oliva, then the Chancellor of New York University to encourage student participation in community service activities. Thanks to the strong support and encouragement of the NYU community, and to the enthusiastic involvement of New York University students, the C-Team has become a model for successful volunteer efforts. The NYU Office of Community Service provides students with information about service opportunities. Hundreds of volunteer positions are on file in this office. Our staff is available to provide advice and assistance, Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm. The Office of Community Service also sponsors special events and welcomes organizations to post volunteer positions. The following programs are offered throughout the year:
