CHEFs for Schools utilizes America Reads’ volunteers to assess the needs of our target schools and community, in addition to fortifying our volunteer corp. If you are interested in their work-study program feel free to shoot us an email.

Whole Foods is a proud sponsor of CHEFs’ nutrition education courses, as well as our annual Activism and Wellness Expo. With their generous support, we have made a positive impact in New York City’s Lower East Side Community.

Greenmarket NYC and local CSAs: CHEFs initiated a university wide effort to enlist the services of local CSAs and Greenmarket NYC to supply NYU dining halls. This aids in the preservation of local farms and provides the opportunity for students to discover where their food comes from.

NYU: Although, CHEFs was founded at NYU, we are dedicated to extending our resources to all education communities. We have found with our extensive involvement in NYU that universities can provide the positive change that NYC’s public schools need while enriching the lives of students on college campuses through our numerous service/social events.

The Food Bank for NYC’s Cookshop Classroom program has been proven to enrich the lives of local public school students who rely on state subsidized meals. Cookshop’s curriculum supplies the unique opportunity for pre-k to 2nd graders to explore, discover, and prepare food. Volunteers are an essential part of this organization’s success so we ask for those interested to donate their time and become Cookshop volunteers. If you are interested, please go to our volunteer page and supply your contact information.

NY Coalition for Healthy School Food shares CHEFs’ vision to make a lasting policy change in the NYC public school system. Our volunteer base helps NYCHSF advocate for an increase of plant-based meals in NYC school cafeterias.

GreenThumb and 6&B Garden give CHEFs members the chance to sponsor a garden and gain invaluable knowledge in sustainability, gardening, and community empowerment.

Babycakes NYC is an incredibly scrumptious alternative bakery in the Lower East Side.  They have been big supporters of our cause by kindly donating their environmentally responsible and sugar free goods to our CookShop classrooms and community events.

CHEFs utilizes local culinary schools’ mandatory community service hours towards free instruction in meal prepration and dinners for the local community: universities, public schools-faculty, parents, students, advocates.
